ABLE II is a 2006 Hunt Surfhunter 29 Hardtop Express with the sought-after Volvo 350 hp D6 common rail diesel engine with fly by wire throttle and shift paired with a Volvo “duo prop” Sterndrive with counter-rotating propellers for the best possible handling at speed as well as well as improved docking that allows the skipper to back the boat in either direction equally well. This propulsion option is also the most fuel-efficient way to move a boat through the water! The hardtop is also a very desirable feature and in great demand in today's market. Light Southern New England Summer usage with only 407 engine hours(!) she has always been stored since new indoors at Burr Brothers Boats in Marion, MA which remains one of the finest privately-owned and true full-service yacht yards in New England. As such, service records are available, and the history of the boat is known to us as we were involved in the build for the original owner. Now seriously offered for sale by only her second owner, ABLE II was just launched and fully sea trialed with all systems “a go” with the engine reaching full and proper rpm, holding temp and achieving 34 knots at wide open throttle. Bravo! Fully serviced, fresh bottom paint and topsides wax, and with a major price improvement, ABLE II represents great value for a well-equipped and well-maintained classic Surfhunter 29. The Hunt Deep Vee hull offers comfortable and secure handling characteristics that are known the world over to be best in class, especially in challenging waters like we experience routinely off the SouthCoast on Buzzards Bay and Nantucket Sounds.

2006 Hunt Yachts Surfhunter 29 Hardtop Express
The Hunt Yachts Surfhunter 29 is designed by C. Raymond Hunt and Associates for superior handling characteristics below the waterline and timeless beauty above. She easily gobbles up sporty seas from Buzzards Bay to Cape Hatteras, from San Francisco Bay to the San Juan Islands.
Her thoughtful interior arrangement affords ample room for a weekend here and there and her pilothouse is thoughtfully laid out as well. This example has the coveted (and optional) Volvo diesel for long life, fuel economy and reliability and the highly desirable express hardtop configuration with side glass panels with “station wagon” side vent windows that face forward to scoop in plenty of fresh air when underway.
Construction:
Deck Features:
The deck layout of the Surfhunter 29 is that of the classic New England cuddy cabin. Her cabin is forward and accessed from the varnished teak companionway (bi-fold teak and Lexan hatch, bi-fold teak louvered doors for cabin ventilation) between the helm and navigator pedestal seats. Next aft is the L-shaped cushioned settee incorporating the front of the engine box. This settee is elevated with fold down footrests and has an optional nifty removable padded bolster providing a backrest for the navigator when sitting facing forward and a comfortable armrest when facing inboard. A full-width, forward-facing cushioned convertible settee is at the transom (three pieces, with center section easily removable) opposite an aft facing seat on the engine box.
Helm Station
The Helm station is to starboard and offers excellent visibility either standing or sitting in the XR helm chair with flip-up bolster. All controls are within easy reach and logically laid out. The electrical breaker panel is outboard of the helm seat.
All electronics and navigation systems are flush mount installed in the helm console in a logical, easy to see and reach location.
Through the forward-folding cuddy companionway door is the spacious cabin finished in white gelcoat with cherry trim. Accommodations for two include a generous V-berth with filler with self-piped cushions upholstered in off white Sunbrella fabric, full galley to port, and spacious ensuite head and shower to starboard.
Head - starboard
The full stand-up head is aft to starboard and features a large Corian vanity, plenty of storage, and an opening port with screen. The Head is large for a boat this size, with room to change in and out of a bathing suit and take a shower. There is also a solar powered ventilator overhead for continuous passive ventilation. The telescoping fixture at the sink hangs on the bulkhead along with a removable shower curtain to convert the space into a shower.
Galley - port
The galley is to port at the base of the companionway steps and provides functional and more than adequate amenities and storage for weekend cruising and entertaining.
